| Anyone ever tried to install cartridge guts into regular sliders??? [for example...83 cr480 forks and install internals out of say a 86-88 cr250}....just wondering? Thanks |

| Racetech emulators for a fraction of the cost and no headaches doing the conversion. I think you would end up with a disc brake if you didn't have one already too. |

| I recently put 87 CR250 cartridge internals into a set of 83 sliders. A very small amount of machine work was required to the bottoming cone area but other than that it was a simple swap. |

As Kenneth said it's a pretty easy swap with limited machining knowledge and the equipment.
If you are riding for fun why not just swap the whole '86-87 front end and get the benefit of the disc brake?
If you're trying get past the rules, then just run the emulators.

A project that I was working on was already going to use the 82-83 forks for their rigidity, and I was told about the cartridge swap. We looked into it just for the fun of doing it (it is a machinist type disease). The org that the bike was used in is very forgiving on their rules too. It is really a simple swap and I have even heard of it being done without the machine work. I have been doing machine work for 35+ years and my opinion is that you are asking for major trouble by not doing the machining mods. |
