 1973 Yamaha ATMX 125
Back in December, during the annual "Christmas Wish List" to Santa, I asked Santa for a 1973 ATMX. A few days later, Santa in the form of John Bergener of Roswell, NM, offered to sell me his.
So, my son Spencer and I took a 5 hour drive out to Arizona to pick it up, met up with John and brought it home. Thank you John for giving me such a good deal on this little gem.
This bike is somewhat outside of what I'm collecting, but I wanted it for two reasons. One, it was Yamaha's first serious attempt of putting out a 125 race bike. Yes, it's an enduro with a GYT kit but a lot of guys cut their teeth riding this bike and two, I saw this model raced back in 1973 by a guy named Hank Spaulding at Fort Riley, KS. Until the TMs and CRs came to the track, he won a lot of races on this bike.
It needs a few things and probably should be restored, but for now I'm adding few pieces as I find them and just enjoying it. Man, these bikes were tiny!

When Rick Sieman left Dirt Bike Magazine in late 1974, he took charge of Modern Cycle. Those magazines were some of the wildest issues ever produced. The mags were scanned to 8 CD discs and are in pdf format, which means you can not only access every page, but you can print out the entire magazine, or a single page. Nearly 3000 pages were scanned! Cost for the entire 8-CD set is $70 and that includes postage anywhere in the US.

| VMX PRO-STAND
The VMX Pro-Stand can be used at the track, or to display your bike. Each stand is hand made in Montana from heavy gauge steel and comes with black powder-coat finish.
This adjustable stand allows the bike to be balanced with both wheels lightly touching the ground, or it can also be adjusted so the front or rear tire can be elevated for repairs and servicing. The stand easily adjusts to any size between 5.25" to 12.00" in Width, and between 9.25" to 14.0" in Height.
The cradles can be turned to any angle to accommodate angled lower frame rails. The cradles are easily raised or lowered by simply turning each cradle. A cinch nut then holds each cradle in place. The VMX Pro-Stand also comes with two heavy duty fiber pads which can be attached to the cradles to protect the bottom of your frame when displaying the bike.

the bad is the crank is worn out and flywheel side crank end and threads for puller are knurled up bad..
otherwise besides the read paint, cases are not cracked,clutch looks very good no notches in the basket

I just received an email this morning from the previous owner from 10 years ago stating that the bike has a rare longer Armstrong fork and the rear loop on it is different from other armstrong forks.

I'm looking for a set of rear shocks for my 78 Kawasaki KX250. According to the Kawasaki parts fiche, the part number is 45014-1008. I found a pair of shocks that the owner states are off a 78 KX250, but the part number is 45014-10431. Could these be later factory reproductions of the originals?
