 1973 Yamaha ATMX 125
Back in December, during the annual "Christmas Wish List" to Santa, I asked Santa for a 1973 ATMX. A few days later, Santa in the form of John Bergener of Roswell, NM, offered to sell me his.
So, my son Spencer and I took a 5 hour drive out to Arizona to pick it up, met up with John and brought it home. Thank you John for giving me such a good deal on this little gem.
This bike is somewhat outside of what I'm collecting, but I wanted it for two reasons. One, it was Yamaha's first serious attempt of putting out a 125 race bike. Yes, it's an enduro with a GYT kit but a lot of guys cut their teeth riding this bike and two, I saw this model raced back in 1973 by a guy named Hank Spaulding at Fort Riley, KS. Until the TMs and CRs came to the track, he won a lot of races on this bike.
It needs a few things and probably should be restored, but for now I'm adding few pieces as I find them and just enjoying it. Man, these bikes were tiny!

Transmission has low hours after being rebuilt by professionals, gear cluster is STD, has kickstarter and shifter lever, complete ready to install and race. $300.00.
Racing clutch is one of several built by a british race bike builder, all custom machined alloy, fits on standard A-10 or goldstar trans shaft using stock primary chain and engine sprocket, dry clutch plates using yamaha clutch discs, this clutch works very well on a race bike, and 1 to 10 compared to a stock goldstar clutch this part is a 10, this part was removed from the race bike as owner went to another style gearbox, ready to install and race. $400.00

| Penton/KTM 400 Engine highly modified with +2mm stroked crank using a modern KTM 380SX rod, 83mm Wiseco Pro-Lite Polaris ATV piston, oversizes available, in a custom cylinder liner, ported to use a '73/74 Yamaha reed cage and a 38 Mikuni, bored to 39.5. 495 pipe, custom air cleaner, Twin Air filter, Motoplat external flywheel with added brass weight. Engine is smooth, very strong powerband right from idle, starts easily, first or second kick, even though hard to kick over, runs great on pump gas, compression lowered slightly from stock. It is in a '72 175, short wheelbase, short travel frame that has been gussetted, and has needle bearings in the swingarm pivot. I will sell just the motor and accessories, would give your post vintage bike a boost! $2600 complete, $2000 just motor package. | 1977 Suzuki RM125B. 98% complete has compression and spark and I was told it ran when I purchased it a little over a year ago. It's missing the following:side panels,front number plate,mag cover. The seat foam and cover have rotted away from sitting. The tank is in nice shape and doesnt have any big dents or dings. Pipe is nearly perfect no dings or cracks. Original silencer is there and has one minor dent in the bottom portion. the shocks are good and have no rust on the shafts and still hold a charge.asking $500.00 OBO please dont low ball me. | Hello. I have what I believe to be a 1979-1980 Husqvarna 390 CR (OR model too?) 2nd oversize piston kit. It was new in the box until today but the box was so deteriorated that it wasn't presentable. It was more duct tape than it was cardboard! I've had it since 1985 and not long afterwards I sold off all my Huskys and moved into Hondas. It is brand new and I would guess that it's worth about $150, but because of a small ding on the edge of the crown (above the wrist pin) I feel it's only fair to discount it a bit. I tried to photograph this imperfection but it is too small for the camera to even pickup. The piston is sound and the flaw won't present a problem. I'll take off 40% which makes it $90. Husqvarna part #1611408.06 and the number found on the top of the piston is 83.92(mm). Thanks. Ken| | Ken Fisk

No, I haven't been visiting any place I shouldn't be.....
The old rotten fuel valves and carbs I've been trying to clean as of late have had a nasty white-yellowish residue inside that defies any kind of cleaner I throw at them. I am thinking it's probably related to modern fuel additives, but geez. Even soaking for a week in the Berryman's carb bucket isn't helping. Is there another brand/type of cleaner I should be using? Zep carb dip used to work great 20 years ago, but I am not finding it anymore. Does it still work with modern fuels?
Any help is appreciated, even from that guy who made fun of my last question is welcome to have at it again.

Bike runs good, but it pops out of 1st gear and won’t go on to any other gears. Local shop worked on it and said 4th gear was galded to the shaft. They got the gear off of the shaft, but now it only it goes in 1st and pops out.
Newly recovered seat and like new front tire.
I don’t have any more time to spend on this bike, so my loss is your gain.

Engine has been completely rebuilt by certified Honda mechanic including the following new parts: piston, rings, seals, all bearings, all gaskets, boyesen reeds. He also installed a new 5th gear. Notice the "ear" or "tab" directly in front of the counter sprocket is in unusually good shape and has not been broken. Engine was sand blasted and painted with automotive paint with hardener. Starts, runs, and shifts great, clutch also works great. Raced approx 6 motos. Counter sprocket cover is included but not pictured, I took it off to show the condition of the tab. Own a piece of history: Cycle World USA was named #1 track in 1977, They ran three 500 Nationals and four Trans-AMA races here. Ed Schultz has been nominated to be inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame for his work as a promoter & track builder
This DVD of the 76/77 Trans AMA at Cycle World USA, St.Peters, Mo. Has some great footage of both Classes 250 & 500. There is footage of Bob Hannah, right after passing Brad Lackey taking his clutch hand off and raising his fist at him or he's giving the power sign to the crowd, one friends thinks he giving him the finger, who knows Lackey could have been yelling at him in the corners? There is also some footage of Bengt Aberg of Sweden on his four stroker # 175. This was where one of the greatest battles in history between Roger Decoster & Hannah happend 1977 (no direct footage of these two going at it).
There are around 75+photos rolled into this DVD from these races and days at Cycle World USA.

Ed Schultz let me roam the track and the pits, there are some great close ups of some of the riders, their bikes and their mechs in the pits. This DVD's running time is 1 hr 22 min It contains a 14 min interview with the former promoter and owner of Cycle World Ed USA Schultz, he gives some track history and insite on the 76 & 77 Trans-AMA. There is 55 min of ***super 8 film*** race footage, It has footage of the 76 practice, the first 250cc support class, and some of both 1976 500cc International motos. Also some AMA facts about the race. You will see your favorite rider/bike at some point in this feature.
I will also throw in the riders list from 76 & 77, the pay outs for both class of the 77 race, 3 page copies of the AMA news release covering the events at Cycle world USA on Oct. 25th 1976 & Oct. 23rd 1977, the point standings of the top 20 riders after these events, and the race results for both Trans AMA races. News paper clippings about the track from local papers, Also a flyover B&W photo of the track on copy paper. Here's just a few images from the DVD.

It was my last pro race as a privateer and I took my VHS recorder & camera to document this event.(It's not full of me)It's full of Barnnet,Omara,Ward,Hannah,Bailey,Magoo,Lechien,Johnson,and so on. The AMA and the promoter were not getting along that year so he ran that year with out the AMA. After I got knocked out of the qualifiers I walk anywhere I wanted to to film the race action with the permission of the officals, so this is footage of trackside race action of both days, it was a two day event. I have footage of the pit with all the riders of the day relaxing, and getting ready to race. I have in they're face footage of them being interviewed after they won they're heat races, like Hannah, Bailey, and the the awards on victory hill with the top three finishers. Walking the track before practice, walking the pits checking out most of all the riders bikes, one of the last years of the factory bikes. Cool footage of Magoo signing autographs and possing for pics with fans. Also as a lap by Doug Domokus? sorry if spelt wrong, he rides a full lap around the track. The DVD is just under 2 hours long. It has it's own sound I added nothing to it, so it's as is.

| Bought from the original owner, low hr bike still on the original piston and chrome bore. When I bought the bike it still had original tires. I've disassemble the bike to clean/grease, all the original bearings were in excellent condition. I put on a set of Fox shox's which are rebuilt with bladder/seals and 10 mm shock eye bushings. Forks cleaned and rebuilt with new seals and fork oil (Nos DG air caps) New Dunlop 756's tires front and rear . Aluminum air box ring with new unifilter. Sprockets and chain which are original are in good condition. The original tank is long gone (had a Clark plastic tank on it) I found a decent Aluminum tank and added MOTO X FOX tank decals. Very solid bike for the money (Pictures taken before bike was completely reassembled) 2,$000.00| | Scott Stanford

I have a 1978 RM 250 C2 parts bike. Alot of parts either wrong or missing. No air box,gas tank, plastic or seat. The seat I have is from a RM 125,"76-"78. The tank I think is from a "79 RM 400. These are both for sale seperate or with the bike.I also have a universal DG silencer for it.Motor ran when I bought it but not well. I found out it had a lawn mower spark plug in it,but i haven't had it running since. I would like $300.00 obo. I can send pics of anything you might want.
