 1973 Yamaha ATMX 125
Back in December, during the annual "Christmas Wish List" to Santa, I asked Santa for a 1973 ATMX. A few days later, Santa in the form of John Bergener of Roswell, NM, offered to sell me his.
So, my son Spencer and I took a 5 hour drive out to Arizona to pick it up, met up with John and brought it home. Thank you John for giving me such a good deal on this little gem.
This bike is somewhat outside of what I'm collecting, but I wanted it for two reasons. One, it was Yamaha's first serious attempt of putting out a 125 race bike. Yes, it's an enduro with a GYT kit but a lot of guys cut their teeth riding this bike and two, I saw this model raced back in 1973 by a guy named Hank Spaulding at Fort Riley, KS. Until the TMs and CRs came to the track, he won a lot of races on this bike.
It needs a few things and probably should be restored, but for now I'm adding few pieces as I find them and just enjoying it. Man, these bikes were tiny!

| Hello, folks. What I have here is a super clean, circa 1974 vintage YAMAHA MX practice jersey. It was given to me by a friend in 1975 but I never wore it. It's been packed away since 1976. The time capsule was opened up in December. The tag states it's an S (small), but I usually wear a Medium, (and sometimes a Large), and this jersey fits me just fine. It definitely isn't a Small, I'd call it a Medium. It is made of a stretchy nylon mesh material in Yamaha yellow with soft stretchy neck and wrist cuffs in the standard contrasting black. In addition, the elbows are padded using a kind of nylon felt material, (not foam). In spite of its age the material and elasticity is as good as the day I got it. Amazing. | | | are they anybody out there that uses pj1 racing gold fire premix 2 stroke oil i have been useing it for several years recently i had a chance to buy 3 gallons at a close out price of 25 bucks a gallon when i received them 2 of them were factory sealed under the cap and one had nothing under the lid. i have a gallon that i had bought from dennis kirk a few months ago the 3 gallons seemed to be older oil than the one that i had 2 of them are in the same kind of gallon jug as the one i had the other one that did not have a seal under the lid is different made jug it is the taller one and it has some red lettering on it that says racing pre mix the oil in the 3 jugs that i just bought is sort of a dark brownish color the jug that i had is a dark blueish purple color is this the right oil in the jugs thati just bought or is some one pulling a fast one on me. did pj1 change the color of there oil some time. has any body ever had any pj1 this color? just dont want to screw my bikes up. any ideas? thanks and happy trailing jamie| | Jamie Todd

| 1974 Yamaha MX 125. It's no garage queen, but not to bad to look at. I replaced the ring. It is at first overbore. It will probably need to be bored after one season. The ring gap is at .020" now. It also has a new seat cover and throttle assembly and new chain and sprockets. It does not have an oil tank so it is running on premix now. It runs pretty good too. Shift good, stops good. Will need tires soon.

1978 Harley Davidson 250 MX250 Info, parts sources etc. Thanks to Mark, this site and Tom from St Louis. I'm now the proud owner of one of these. Tom gave me some great parts leads like Moto Italia and Charleston custom cycle in IL. But would like to hear from anyone that knows of others or places with info on these bikes or anyone who also has one. Also anyone knowing anything about the modified head in the picture. The squish area is heavily filled in and a second plug hole has been added as well as more holes drilled. It is engraved "scotty 6/78"

| 1974 Honda CR250M Race Bike
Very nice racer. Complete bike except for right side panel/number plate. Obviously everything is not shown in photos. Motor is partially disassembled but complete with reed valve intake, mild intake porting and Sudco/Mikuni carb. Many NOS Honda motor parts. Trick aluminum swingarm, trick pipe, forks dialed in, etc. This was a very fast and competitive bike. PO pulled motor and planned to do an original restoration on the bike and never went any further. I planned to complete it but that never happened either. Reassemble the motor (cases not currently split) and rack up some trophies this year. Motor was fairly fresh when top end, ignition and clutch were removed. Motive there definitely a mystery. $2250. Serious only please. Thanks.

It's always so good to see so many old friend and meet new one and being the opener of the new season .. most everyones bykes looks shiney new ....
Dave Boydstrom desirves a tip of the hat ....
He always come though and provides us with such a Great Event ....
Sunday for the Vintage races ... being that the Track was way to wet to race on Dave change the Location to the near by Desert .... and I think it fair to say .... All had a good tyme ...
I couldnt help but think of my youth ... when a couple buddy and myself would load up the byke's in the back of a pickup truck and head out to the desert ... and proceed to chase one and other around the pucka-bushes in 4th or 5th gear...
I could see the same silly grin I had thirty years ago ... on the faces of the ryders coming off the impromtu track today ..... Man !! How Kool is this sport !!!
I sure Hope to see you guys at the AHRMA event this coming weekend ...

| Can you please help me identify this pipe ? It has a DG sticker on the stinger end and was on a Honda MR50 but it doesn't seem to fit the MR50 very well. It hits the frame and the side number plate can't be used when the pipe is in place. Also, to fit on a MR50 the hole spacing on the flange was wrong. | $20.00 shipping included, DVD of the 1984 SX at the "Pontiac Silver Dome" (Running time 1:50) a two day event filmed from a riders vantage point. Race footage never seen by anyone. This was the year the promoter and the AMA were not getting along, and the AMA was out of the picture. The events where ran by the promoter. I had the officals permission to have the run of the track, video taping the race action track side. I taped from when we arrived, to the last main event of the second day. I roamed the parking lot taping all the riders relaxing before the event and in the pits during the event. I was able to climb up the to finish line jump and get great close-ups of the winning riders being interviewed, now this DVD has all of it's own sound. I did not add anything to it, it's as is. It's even has Doug Demokus? the Wheelie King riding a full lap on a wheelie.Ron Lechien Went from # 224 on a Yamaha in 83 to # 7 on a Honda in 84. It was David Bailey's year with the #1 plate. Roger DeCoster was team Honda's team rep. Walk the track, see all the riders as you have never seen them before Magoo, Ward(did you know Ward had to stand two rocks to start?), Liles, OMara, Johnson, Glover, Barnett, and you name him you'll see him. A small clip of this footage was used in Jody's Motocross Immortals, Todd Huffman put it together for him so I sent Jody a copy of the DVD.

Own a piece of history: Cycle World USA was named #1 track in 1977, They ran three 500 Nationals and four Trans-AMA races here. Ed Schultz has been nominated to be inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame for his work as a promoter & track builder
This DVD of the 76/77 Trans AMA at Cycle World USA, St.Peters, Mo. Has some great footage of both Classes 250 & 500. There is footage of Bob Hannah, right after passing Brad Lackey taking his clutch hand off and raising his fist at him or he's giving the power sign to the crowd, one friends thinks he giving him the finger, who knows Lackey could have been yelling at him in the corners? There is also some footage of Bengt Aberg of Sweden on his four stroker # 175. This was where one of the greatest battles in history between Roger Decoster & Hannah happend 1977 (no direct footage of these two going at it).
There are around 75+photos rolled into this DVD from these races and days at Cycle World USA.

Ed Schultz let me roam the track and the pits, there are some great close ups of some of the riders, their bikes and their mechs in the pits. This DVD's running time is 1 hr 22 min It contains a 14 min interview with the former promoter and owner of Cycle World Ed USA Schultz, he gives some track history and insite on the 76 & 77 Trans-AMA. There is 55 min of ***super 8 film*** race footage, It has footage of the 76 practice, the first 250cc support class, and some of both 1976 500cc International motos. Also some AMA facts about the race. You will see your favorite rider/bike at some point in this feature.
I will also throw in the riders list from 76 & 77, the pay outs for both class of the 77 race, 3 page copies of the AMA news release covering the events at Cycle world USA on Oct. 25th 1976 & Oct. 23rd 1977, the point standings of the top 20 riders after these events, and the race results for both Trans AMA races. News paper clippings about the track from local papers, Also a flyover B&W photo of the track on copy paper. Here's just a few images from the DVD.

| | | I need help with my 1980 kawasaki KX 250. The bike runs great until I shift into 4th. It jumps out of gear then it is like it jumped up a gear to 5th. It does this every time.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the Kaws?
I have tried to find a detailed service book that has tear down and rebuild procedures in it but have not been able to locate one. Nay suggestions for locating one?

| This is my last stash of used Red Racer plastic that I had for my 1980 Honda CR250. The fenders fit 1978-1980 CR250, while the side panels and air filter cover fit the 1980 model only. Items are in very good condition but they do have light scuff marks from racing. The front # plate is OEM Honda(faded and scuffed, includes rubber cable grommet) = $150 + shipping. I also have a 1980 CR250 tank including gas cap with no leaks or cracks (does not include fuel shutoff valve). Tank has some deep scratches on top as seen in pictures = $50 + shipping . Seat, no cracks on base, cover is torn and brittle, foam seems to be good = $40 + shipping.

| Hi all, I posted this shock for identification last week, thanxx to all memebers who shared their input...the majority of memebers identify this as a works performance shock. I removed this from a clean 85 CR500 and installed a stock original shock, so this one if up for sale. The overall length is 17 3/4" from center of eye to center of eye. The pivoting eyelet bushing is 19.5mm wide and the U shaped mount is 30.5mm inside the mount. Shock has good shaft and seal, but rebound bumper was toast and has cracked away. Good useable shock for a functioning bike, but reccomend intsalling a rebound bumper...$200.00 shipped to you, or what's it worth? Thanxx guys for the input and thanxx Mark for the site! Ride on!
